Our Logo Story

Our school logo is a representation of concepts and designs received from feedback at our Community Conversation Café earlier this year.

The tortoise pays homage to the Western Swamp Tortoise, one of the most endangered reptiles in Australia. Thought to have been extinct, the Western Swamp Tortoise was amazingly rediscovered in 1958. There are less than 50 adult tortoises living in the wild, in protected sanctuaries right here in the Swan Valley. This is their natural habitat where they once lived and thrived.

The centre of the tortoise shell represents our students. Our students are at the centre of all we do. The circles surrounding the students represent the school and our families (our community). Together we teach, support, nurture and care for each and every Henley Brook Primary School student.

The water represents the Henley Brook – a small stream that is calm and peaceful. We want our school to be a place where people feel a sense of calm and peace. A place where our staff, students, families and community feel that they belong.

The letter ‘h’ represents our name. The burnt orange colour connects us to the earth, grounding us in our community. The connection to the earth reminds us of the important role we play in taking care of our environment.

The elements of our logo sit on a shield. A shield represents tradition and although we are a new and modern school, we acknowledge the importance of developing strong and positive traditions within our school. Traditions provide us with a sense of belonging, and they play an important role in acknowledging where we have come from while we focus on building a strong future.

The font used in the school name has been designed and created especially for us. Its uniqueness makes it special, and our school will be a special place.

We sincerely thank Mark Littlepage and his team at Razoreye Design for their work and dedication in designing a logo that is truly reflective of our community and the feedback given to us at our Community Conversation Café. We also thank our parent consultation committee for their work in helping to bring our community perspectives to the table and feeding into this design to mould it into the logo we unveil to you all today.
